A brand new year, episode 10, and other stuff!

Hey all! The new year is feel good so far. The podcast is going well, review writing is getting better all the time, I'm recovering from a cold... What's not to love?

First off, for episode 10 of the podcast, I got to hang out at Bosco's in Anchorage Alaska. Bosco's is an Anchorage institution, my hometown FLGS, and my old employer. John is an amazing dude who spits out wisdom like some cross between Tom Waits and FDR. Check that out on our podcast tab.

Oh yeah! With a new year, Mrs. Cardboard Herald and I took a look at our collection and decided to cull some titles for the trade / sell / twitter giveaway list. Once we did that, we had a little space to play around with organization. Here's the collection as of January 2017:

These are the games that we owned and (probably at some point) loved, but unfortunately, they just couldn't make the cut for the new year. Maybe they were replaced by other games, maybe we just don't feel the itch anymore, whatever it is, these are off to a new home as soon as I can find one:

Boss Monster 1 & 2
Thunderstone Advance
Tokaido
Urban Sprawl
Ninja: The Legend of the Scorpion Clan
World of Warcraft
Bioshock: Infinite

Lastly, in case you missed it, I'm super proud of the 7 Wonders: Duel review I posted yesterday, so be sure to read it and tell me what exclusively 2 player games you love.

Cindi Lauper - Time After Time

Welcome to 2017 - Let's talk about old games!

Hey folks, we made it. 2016 is over and done with; though the repercussions will linger I'm sure. There's some really good stuff about 2016 too, especially in gaming. Both video games and tabletop games saw some awesome releases over the past year. But everyone is talking about those, so John and I decided to talk about something else. Check out our articles, John's Favorite non-2016 Gaming Experiences of 2016 and Jack's Favorite Old but New Games of 2016.

Happy New Year!

The San Francisco Symphony - The Ecstasy of Gold

Holy Crow! Three expansion reviews!?

Hey there!

While I was writing up the article "Three Perfect Expansions", I ended up stumbling upon our brand spanking new, never-before-seen, expansion review format. So the article kind of evolved (devolved?) into three separate reviews. So check out the reviews for Five Tribes: Artisans of Naqala, Suburbia: Inc, and Lords of Waterdeep: Scoundrels of Skullport.

Stay tuned for big news about the podcast this week!
